What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser so it can remember something between pages or visits. Local storage does a similar job but stays on your device and isn’t sent to the website with every request. This page covers both, because both end up in your browser when you visit us.
What this site stores
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
lx_recent_cn |
Local storage, set by LCS Tracking | Remembers the last five CN numbers you tracked so you can re-check them with one tap. Never sent to anyone. | Until you clear site data |
wordpress_*, wp-settings-* |
Cookies, set by WordPress | Keep site staff logged in to the admin area. Ordinary visitors don’t get these. | Session up to 14 days |
The tracking tool works without any cookie. You can block all cookies and still look up a parcel.
Google cookies
When we use Google Analytics to measure visits or Google AdSense to show ads, Google sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy. These are the main ones:
| Name | Service | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* |
Google Analytics | Tell visits apart so we can count visitors and see which pages are used. Last up to 2 years. |
__gads, __gpi |
Google AdSense | Limit how often you see the same ad and measure ad performance |
IDE and other doubleclick.net cookies |
Google advertising | Show ads based on your visits to this and other sites, if personalised ads are allowed |
Google lists every cookie it uses, and how long each lasts, on its cookies page. To turn off personalised ads, use My Ad Center; to stop Analytics, install Google’s opt-out add-on. More on this is in our privacy policy.
Clearing or blocking them
Clearing “cookies and site data” removes both cookies and your saved CNs. Where to find it:
- Chrome (Android or desktop): Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data → tick “Cookies and site data”.
- Safari on iPhone: Settings → Safari (under Apps on newer iOS) → Clear History and Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data.
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search and services → Clear browsing data.
To remove only this site’s data in Chrome, tap the icon to the left of the address bar while on lcstracking.com, open site settings and choose to delete data. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser settings stops most advertising cookies without affecting how this site works.
Your consent
Where the law in your country requires it, we’ll ask for your permission before analytics or advertising cookies are set, and you’ll be able to change your mind later. Storage the site needs to work, like your recent CNs, doesn’t need consent because it only does what you asked it to do.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page when the cookies on the site change, for example if we add, remove or switch an analytics or ad provider. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
